4 Replacement Procedures

Installing the Touch pad

The following describes the procedure for installing the touch pad. (See Figure 4-44 to 4-46.)

Stick a new

touch pad

on the palm rest cover in place.

CAUTION: When installing a new touch pad, follow the steps below.

1. Remove the separator from the top surface of the GlidePoint.

2. Temporary fixing to designated place on the plastic part.

One edge should contact with the surface first. Then the other side
touches down.

3. Press down to adhere firmly.

Press down motion: from center to perimeter
Do not touch the electrical components on the GlidePoint.

4. Rub the operating surface of plastic part.

Rubbing motion: from center to perimeter

The bottom of GlidePoint should be supported.

Stick a new

button board

on the touch pad assembly in place with the

double-sided

tape

Connect the

touch pad cable

and

relay cable

to the

connector

on the button board.

Set the

touch pad assembly

to the

guides

and secure it with the following

screw



FLAT HEAD screw



Connect the

relay cable

to the

connector

on the touch pad.

Stick the

glass tapes

in place.
