Before towing, double-check all of these items: See section 6.1, “Inspection, Service &
Maintenance Summary Charts,” for more information.
Tires, wheels and lug nuts (see the Major Hazards section starting on page 6 of this manual)
•
Tire Pressure. Inflate tire on trailer and tow vehicle to the pressure stated on the VIN /
Certification label.
•
Coupler secured and locked (see the “Coupling and Uncoupling the Trailer” section starting
on page 27 of this manual)
•
Safety chains properly rigged to tow vehicle, not to hitch or ball (see the “Coupling to the Tow
Vehicle” chapter starting at Page 26 of this manual)
•
Test of lights: Tail, Stop, and Turn Lights
•
Test trailer brakes.
•
Safety breakaway switch cable fastened to tow vehicle, not to safety chains (see the
“Coupling to the Tow Vehicle” chapter starting at Page 26 of this manual)
•
Fire extinguisher
•
Flares and reflectors
