TransFluid Coupler:
The transfluid coupler is filled from the factory with environmentally friendly KFPD
Phosphate Ester fluid, 5-6 quarts. ISO 32 Oil can also be used. When put under extreme load, the oil in the
coupler will heat up, and in some cases, the safety relief plug will melt, letting out the oil, and therefore
stopping power transfer.
In this case, always replace plug with P/N 7018C
.
DO NOT USE STANDARD
ALLEN HEAD PLUG.
Unit could overheat, and cause severe damage to engine, belts, or coupler.
When refilling oil, rotate inner housing until stamped “X” aligns in top vertical slot of outer housing. Fill inner
housing with 5-6 quarts, until oil runs out of plug opening. Replace plug.

LUBRICATION
Type of grease: It is recommended that lithium complex grease with a thickness rating of NLGI 2 and
operating temperature of -20 – 200 deg. F. be used.
Every 8 hours:
•
Impeller bearings, 2 pumps (2 places)
•
Transfluid coupler output shaft bearing (if equipped), 2 pumps
•
Hose arm pivot 2 pumps each fitting (4 places)
Every 100 hours:
•
Clutch bearing (if equipped), 1 pump
•
Hubs, 1 pump

FAN
BELT
TENSION
&
ALIGNMENT
Your leaf vacuum is driven by a 5 strand 5vx belt system. To tighten or loosen the fan belts, use the screw
jacks at the rear of the machine. The screw jacks slide the engine forward and backward. See page

for additional information on motor screw jacks.
ALIGNMENT: See next section
TENSION:
INITIAL ADJUSTMENT: To avoid severe belt slippage or failure, adjust tension of belt after first hour of
service.
Belt tension can be checked with a belt tension tester. For a clutch operated belt system, correct belt tension
is 5/8” of deflection with 44 lb. pressure applied. Less tension is required for a unit with a TransFluid coupler,
as power transfer to the belts from the engine is slower. Hence, longer belt life can be expected with proper
tension using a TransFluid Coupler.
In general, the belts should be as loose as possible and still not slip under the largest possible load. If the belt
is too tight, premature bearing and belt failure are probable. If slippage is occurring, the belt should be
tightened and realigned. NOTE: over tightening belts will lead to premature belt failure and wear. DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN.
