Problem

Cause and Solution

Control Systems

Hydraulic steering is slow 
to respond and erratic.

• 

Steering system is low on fluid. Fill and bleed sys

tem. 

• 

Steering system has air in it. Fill and bleed system. 

• 

A component in the steering system is binding. 

Check and adjust or repair binding component. 

• 

Engine steering cylinder is binding. Grease spindle.

The boat wanders and will 
not hold a course at cruise 
speeds.

There could be air in the steering system. Fill & 

bleed the system.

The engine steering tab is corroded or out of adjust-
