SENSOR CORRECTION

There are a number of factors that will affect the accuracy of the temperature
displayed in relation to the actual temperature inside the incubator, these include the
following:

Loading of the incubator. (Product load inside the incubator may affect

the air flow across the temperature sensor).

Incubator temperature. (At higher temperatures the heat loss from the

incubator will be greater).

Sensor location. (The temperature sensor can never be placed in the

centre of the incubator because it could get damaged).

Because of the above factors, it will be common to have an error between the
temperature displayed and temperature measured at the centre of the workspace.
For this reason the digital temperature controls have a parameter that can be used to
correc

t the temperature displayed, called the “PV Offset”.

In simple terms this “PV Offset” adds or subtracts a correction value to the displayed
temperature to make it read the correct temperature. The “PV Offset” correction
parameter can be accessed by means of the following procedure:

MEASURING EQUIPMENT

Ensure that the equipment used to verify the temperature at the desired location is
appropriate for conditions, and it has a current certificate of calibration to a traceable
source issued by a registered organisation.

ADJUSTING THE CALIBRATION OFFSET

As an example, assume that we have determined with our reference instrument that
@ 35ºC we have a +1.0ºC error, and that we should be reading 36ºC instead of
35ºC.
