5. FANS AND ELECTRICS
5.1 Connection and installation
The following installation conditions and assembly instructions must be read carefully and
followed exactly!
The electrical connection of the fans or the electrical accessories - if available - must be carried out
in accordance with the provisions of the applicable national regulations and the provisions of the local
utility company, e.g., EN IEC 60079-14, EN IEC 60079-17, EN IEC 60079-19.
The electrical connection may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Mount the device carefully and only in compliance with the safety instructions (see Chapter 3).
Connect the protective conductor properly using cable lugs with a sufficiently large cross-section.
Functional test must be carried out and documented.
Lay the protective conductor firmly and close to the housing.
Include all bare, non-live metal parts in the protective conductor system.
Lay the N-lines as live.
A suitable, all-pole disconnecting device must be built into the installation if this is not included in the
scope of supply of thermofin®.
To prevent unexpected start-up, it must be possible to secure this switch-off device when it
is de-energized (switched off)!
Wire only according to the enclosed circuit diagrams or terminal plans.
Existing devices for strain relief must be used. The cable entries used by thermofin® are part of the
explosion protection concept and must not be replaced by other types of screw connections.
Cable entries installed on site and, if necessary, other components must be suitable for the respective
purpose and have the corresponding certificates.
The direction of rotation for the fans must be observed!
The existing thermal motor protection must be integrated into the electrical control by the system
installer (see connection diagram of the fans). It must be ensured that motors with triggered thermal
protection cannot be switched on as long as the winding has not cooled down again. Otherwise the
warranty claim expires! Observe the information on the type plate on the motors! The performance
