Disassembly and Replacement
4.
Remove the remaining lower screw securing the Reference Detector cover.
5.
Lift the Reference Detector cover off the base and set aside.
CAUTION:
CIRCUIT BOARDS AND OTHER ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS ARE
SUBJECT TO DAMAGE FROM ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. TO
PREVENT SUCH DAMAGE, USE A WRIST OR HEEL GROUNDING STRAP.
GROUND TOOLS THROUGH A CONDUCTIVE MAT BEFORE TOUCHING
ANY POTENTIALLY STATIC-SENSITIVE ASSEMBLIES OR DEVICES. WHEN
HANDLING PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS OR OTHER ELECTRONIC
ASSEMBLIES, HOLD THE BOARD BY ITS EDGES TO AVOID TOUCHING
CIRCUIT TRACES OR DEVICES WITH BARE HANDS OR FINGERS.
6.
Remove the Reference Detector Circuit board (335901-6034 [UV only]).
7.
Remove the two screws securing the Reference Detector Circuit board to the base.
8.
Carefully pull the Reference Detector Circuit board away from its locating dowel pins and remove it
from its mounting position.
9.
Remove the ribbon cable from its connector on the Reference Detector Circuit board.
10.
Remove the Lens if cleaning, or replacement is required.
CAUTION:
NEVER TOUCH THE LENS WITH YOUR FINGERS. ALWAYS USE AN
UNCOATED LENS TISSUE, OR SOFT COTTON CLOTH, OR CLEAN LAB
GLOVES TO AVOID OILS GETTING ONTO THE LENS. NEVER USE A LENS
PAPER WITH SILICONE ADDITIVES.
NOTE:
The lens does not have an orientation. It fits into a slight ridge, which positions it and is
clamped in place by two washers, which are secured by screws on either side of the lens.

Hold the lens with a lens tissue, soft cloth, or lab gloves and remove the two screws and washers
securing the lens.
12.
Remove the lens and set aside.
Replacement
1.
Replace the lens.
CAUTION:
NEVER TOUCH THE LENS WITH YOUR FINGERS. ALWAYS USE A LENS
TISSUE OR SOFT COTTON CLOTH TO AVOID OILS GETTING ONTO THE
LENS.
2.
Hold the lens with a lens tissue, soft cloth, or lab gloves and position the lens on the ridge in the
base.
3.
Insert the screws through the washers and gently snug them up against the lens to hold it in place.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN OR THE LENS MAY BREAK!
