Engine Maintenance

Compressor/Alternator Fan Belts

1. Move the alternator upward to tighten the

belts enough to obtain a reading of 50 ± 5
deflection of the compressor/alternator belts
on the Thermo King Belt Tension Gauge. If
the Thermo King Belt Tension Gauge is not
used, the belt should deflect 1/2 in. (13 mm) at
the center of the longest span.

Belts should be tensioned cold 50 ± 5 (on Thermo
King Belt Tension Gauge and retensioned cold
after 10 hours of unit running.
