Figure 6-9: Typical Workspace: NIRvana HS Camera with Spectrograph
Since this is a new experiment, default values for the NIRvana HS and spectrograph
configuration parameters will be used.
The Status Bar across the bottom of the workspace includes an icon for
Temperature Status. Temperature Status reports the current system temperature
and if the configured temperature has been reached. Clicking on the icon opens the
Sensor expander where the set temperature can be changed.
12. On the Shutter expander, select Shutter Mode: Normal.
13. Open the Spectrometer expander and select the appropriate grating.
NOTE:
When using a broadband source, select 0.0 nm.
14. Turn on the shutter driver.
15. Turn on the light source at the spectrograph’s entrance slit.
16. Click Run to begin previewing data.
Depending on the display settings, you should see either a spectral band (image) or
a graph. Background noise will decrease as the camera cools to its default
temperature.
17. Turn off the light source.
The data display should change to a background noise pattern or low intensity
graph. If this occurs you have confirmed that light entering the spectrograph is
being seen by the camera. Proceed to
Section 6.2.1, Rotational Alignment and
, on page 44.
