Press TRIGGER MENU; then press the main-menu button
Mode. Now press the side-menu button Normal.

Press the main-menu button Source; then press the side-menu
button for the source being confirmed.
H
Press MEASURE.
H
Press the main-menu button High-Low Setup; then press the
side-menu button Min-Max.
H
Press the main-menu button Select Measurement for Ch x.
H
Press the side-menu button –more– until Amplitude appears in
the side menu (its icon is shown at the left). Press the side-menu
button Amplitude.
H
Press SET LEVEL TO 50%.
H
Press HORIZONTAL MENU; then press the main-menu button
Time Base.
H
Press the side-menu button Main Only.
H
Press SHIFT; then press ACQUIRE MENU. Now press the
main-menu button Mode; then the side-menu button Average 16.
H
Press CLEAR MENU.

Confirm Main trigger system is within sensitivity limits: Only perform this
step if your oscilloscope contains delay lines (it
does not contain Op-
tion 1D).
a.
Display the test signal:

Set the generator frequency to 10 MHz.
H
Set the generator amplitude so that the oscilloscope amplitude
readout indicates the amplitude is 80 mV. (Readout may fluctuate
around 80 mV.)

Check the Main trigger system for stable triggering at limits:
H
Read the following definition: A stable trigger is one that is con-
sistent; that is, one that results in a uniform, regular display
triggered on the selected slope (positive or negative). This display
should
not have its trigger point switching between opposite
slopes, nor should it “roll” across the screen. At horizontal scale
settings of 2 ms/division and faster, TRIG’D will remain constantly
lit.

Press SET LEVEL TO 50%.
H
Press TRIGGER MENU; then press the main-menu button
Slope. CHECK that a stable trigger is obtained for the test wave-
form on both the positive and negative slopes. (Use the side
menu to switch between trigger slopes; use the TRIGGER LEV-
EL knob to stabilize the trigger if required.)
