5. USING THE WEB PAGES
5.1. OVERVIEW
Once the web page is opened in a web browser program, most of the power supply’s settings
may be viewed or changed from any location on the network
5.2. HOME PAGE
The opening web page displays the model identity and LAN settings. Some of the fields are:
VISA Name Using IP Address:
For automation programming, VISA is a type of
communication driver. For LAN instruments, the IP address may be used in the VISA
resource descriptor. See glossary section 1.3.16
VISA Name Using Hostname:
For automation programming, an alternate VISA resource
descriptor using the power supply’s hostname. See glossary section 1.3.16
RS-485 Address:
This address only applies to a multi-drop chain of supplies. This is the
RS-485 address of the LAN supply (also called the master supply). To set this address on
the front panel, see section 9.2.2
Hostname:
A unique name for a device on a network. The default hostname is described in
section 3.6, but it may be configured by the user (see section 5.5.2). If the hostname is not
properly registered with the network name server, the IP address will be shown
LXI Class:
(LAN Extensions for Instrumentation) Class C means the IEEE-1588 timing and
the Trigger bus are
not
implemented by the Genesys™ power supply
LXI Version:
This is the LXI version that the Genesys™ power supply is certified to
Auto-MDIX:
This is a setting which allows the LAN port to automatically detect if a patch or
cross-over LAN cable is used
