REPLACE THE SHOCKS
It is recommended to replace all shocks as a set.
NOTE: On some vehicles it may be required to remove the front wheel to
gain access to the shock mounting bolts. Refer to
Tires and Wheels
section for information regarding removing the front wheels.
6. Some vehicles may require that the wheels be lifted off of the ground and supported with jack
stands to replace the shocks.
7. Remove the upper and lower shock bolts.
8. Remove the shock from the vehicle.
NOTE: If the shock that was removed is to be
reinstalled:
A. Inspect the shaft where it enters the shock
body for any signs of leakage. If any sign
of leakage is seen, then the shock must
be replaced.
B. Inspect the upper and lower shock
bushings. If any signs of damage or wear
are seen, then the shock must be
replaced.
9. Install the shock in reverse order.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Reconnect the main positive and negative cables at the
batteries.
12. Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.
13. Release the parking brake and test drive the vehicle.
1. Make sure the key-switch is in the “OFF” position, then remove the
key.
2. Place the forward-reverse switch in the center “OFF” position.
3. Set the park brake.
4. Place blocks under the front wheels to prevent vehicle movement.
5. Disconnect the main positive and negative cables at the batteries.
Always use a lifting strap, hoist, and jack stands, of adequate capacity
to lift and support the vehicle. Failure to use lifting and support devices
of rated load capacity may result in severe bodily
