Troubleshooting

Q1.

The computer does not seem to recognize the

MCR-4V, why not?

A1.

Please check the following:

Check the MCR-4V

Check the USB connection between the computer and the

MCR-4V.

Check the Computer

•  Make sure that the software has been installed properly and is

working.

•  The USB driver installation may not have been installed

correctly. Please see [Help for Unit Recognition Failure] in the

Help menu, and check the USB driver.

•

Connect a different USB device (mouse, digital camera, etc...)

other than the MCR-4V to your computer and see if it operates

properly.

•  If your computer has more than one USB port, try connecting

the USB cable to a different port.

•  If you have access to another computer, try seeing if communi-

cation works with the other computer.

If after checking and trying the above there is no improve-

ment please contact the distributor where the product was

purchased.

Q2.

The first reading of recorded data is invalid data,

why?

A2.

One of two scenarios is possible:

•

When recording average values, the first recorded value is

invalid because an average cannot be calculated.

•  When the Preheat function has been set to ON (recording

method: instantaneous values only) and the preheat time is set

to longer than the waiting time before recording start, the first

data reading will be invalid because preheating has not been

completed.

Q3.

Is it possible to change the batteries while the unit is

in operation?

A3.

If the unit is connected to an AC adaptor or some other

external power source, it is possible to change the batteries.

If only batteries are being used as the power source, it is nec-

essary to stop recording before changing the batteries.

Q4.

Is it possible to modify recorded data downloaded to

the PC?

A4.

In order to maintain the integrity and trustworthiness of the

recorded data, the software has been designed to not allow

modifications to be carried out on actual recorded data.

Recorded data opened in T&D Graph can be saved in CSV

format and edited using spreadsheet software, but edited

data cannot be returned to our graph format.

Q5.

I get a “Write Error” when I try to export recorded

data to an SD memory card, what should I do?

A5.

Please check the following:

•  Make sure the write protection switch on the SD memory card

is unlocked.

•  Check if your SD memory card is supported by the MCR-4V. (See

p.36)

•  Perform a “Memory Card Test”. (See p.42)
•  Perform a “Quick Format” for your SD card. (See p.42)

If after checking and trying the above you still get an error

message, please contact the distributor where the product

was purchased.
