Unpacking the Internal
SATA Tape Drive

Before you do anything else, unpack and inspect the tape drive for
shipping damage. If you notice any damage, report it both to the sales
representative and to the shipping company immediately.
If there is no damage to the tape drive, select a server or workstation to
host the tape drive, then move on to the following installation steps.

In the final installation stage, you install the tape drive in the server or
workstation and connect the data and power cables.
To install the tape drive, follow these steps:

Shut down the operating system and power off the server or
workstation.

Power off all peripheral devices, such as printers and other connected
devices.

Remove the cover from the server or workstation as described in the
server or workstation’s documentation.

Install the server or workstation’s cover,
connect power cables to all peripheral devices,
and apply power to the server or workstation
and all peripheral devices.

Check the tape drive to make sure it is
working properly.
Note:
Save the packing materials in case you need to move or ship
the tape drive in the future. You must ship the tape drive in
the original (or equivalent) packing materials or you will
invalidate the warranty.
Caution:
Do not go to step 3
until you have completed steps
