One significant change from software-only releases is the method of connecting
to the appliance. Previous releases required that you connect a mouse and keyboard
to the server onto which the software was loaded.
The software is pre-installed on the Backup Exec 3600 Appliance. The only correct
initial connection to the appliance is with a Windows computer or laptop. Connect
an Ethernet cable between the computer and the NIC1/eth0 port on the appliance.
The Ethernet cable must be a cross-over cable or you must ensure that the laptop
connection to the appliance is Gigabit Ethernet. Another option is to install a
switch that ensures proper connectivity.
Review the configuration guidelines and process before you start.
Warning:
Do not use a monitor, a mouse, and a keyboard to connect to the
appliance. This type of connection prevents you from logging in. You may have
to restore factory settings.
