Preliminary Information
This chapter provides basic information on using the operating instruction manual and the tele-
phone.
Icons and texts in the handset display
Icon
Description
The phone book is open.
Indicates the battery charge status.
The ringing tone has been switched off.
Handsfree mode has been switched on.
Key lock function is switched on.
Connection established.
Microphone muted.
Indicates there are entries in the calls list.
Indicates the signal strength.
Indicates an internal call is being made.
Indicates a message has been recorded in the telephone network.
VMWI − Supplementary service provided by your network operator.
There are more entries (characters/digits) to the legt/right of those
displayed.
New messages are recorded on the answering machine.
Standby mode
All descriptions in this operating manual assume that the handset is in Standby mode. This is
the case when you are not talking on the phone and if a menu is not open.
Press the
B
button to enable Standby mode, if necessary.
Energy−save mode
When the handset has been in Standby mode for some time, it automatically switches to
energy−save mode. The buttons and display no longer light up.
