Appendix

Emergency operation

Your phone can still be operated in emergency mode during power failures. How you activate
emergency mode depends on your phone connection.

Emergency operation on network termination unit (NT+2ab)

If your phone is directly connected to the NT+2ab bus, the emergency power is supplied directly
by the exchange. This provides sufficient power for one phone. Not all the features are available
in emergency mode. However, you can still make and receive calls.

To set a telephone for emergency operation:

Remove the cover of the speed-dial label field by slipping a fingernail under
the edge and lifting the cover and label field.

A snap-in key is revealed:

Press it in until it snaps into position. Emergency
mode is activated.

Release the snap-in key with your finger nail or a
hard object e.g. a small coin or the tip of a screw-
driver. Emergency mode is deactivated.

If you set more than one telephone for emergency operation, none of the telephones are
able to function.

Emergency operation on a PBX

If your phone is connected to a PBX, the system supplies the emergency power. The type of PBX
dictates which features are available during emergency operation and how many phones are ca-
pable of emergency operation. Refer to your PBX documentation.

For PBX operation you still need to enable your phone for emergency operation (see previous
section).
