a. In the camera software, make sure that the “Mirroring” is turned OFF for both
vertical and horizontal
b. PixelFormat is set to Mono14.
c. Turn off FW NUCS: Set NucEnable to (0) Offset Off/ Gain Off
d. Turn off “ACE” and “MCE” (see Section 0 .)
e. Turn off “2pt NUC”
f. Turn off “normalize to”
g. BadPixelReplacement should be off.
2. Collect dark field images for the desired exposure time settings, up to four different
values.
a. Enter the desired settings for Set Exposure Time, Set Width, and Set Height.
b. Close the lens aperture and cover or close dark box and turn off lights.
c. Click Create Dark Frame, Average = 10 Frames.
d. Name the files d Texp and save in the NUC/Raw Files folder.
e. Note the location of the histogram peak – this is the dark floor for the current
camera settings. This value is used when collecting the flat field images.
3. Collect flat field images using the same exposure times.
a. Uncover the camera lens and turn on the light source
b. Aim the camera towards the flat white surface through the light diffuser or into
the integrating sphere.
c. Open the aperture until the histogram moves off the dark floor but ensure that
none of the pixels are saturated. The histogram should be normally distributed.
d. Click Create Flat Field, Average = 10 Frames.
e. Name these files f Texp and save in the NUC/Raw Files location.

4. IMPORTANT: Create and implement a software 2pt NUC for each exposure time to check
image quality generated from each dataset. Repeat data collection until the desired image
quality is obtained. Instructions for implementing the software 2pt NUC can be found in
the section 8.2 .
