4) Vertical Concealment
Vertical concealment is affected by replacing the defective pixel with the pixel value
directly above it. One implication of this is that pixels in the first row of an image cannot
be concealed. The correction gets applied as shown;

Vertical concealment can be used to conceal an entire horizontal row of pixels.
5) Precedent
Defective pixel concealment is performed in two steps. Vertical concealment is
performed first, followed by horizontal concealment.
