5-5 Installing Memory
Caution:
exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMMs to prevent
possible damage. Remove power from the system before installing or changing
memory modules.
Installing Memory
Installing & Removing DIMMs
1. Insert the desired number of DIMMs into the memory slots, starting with P1-
DIMMA1. (For best performance, use the memory modules of the same type
and speed in the same bank.)
2. Push the release tabs outwards on both ends of the DIMM slot to unlock it.
3. Align the key along the bottom of the DIMM with the receptive point on the
slot.
4. Use two thumbs together to press both ends of the module straight down into
the slot until it snaps into place.
5. Push the release tabs to the locked position to secure the DIMM into the slot.
6. Unlock the release tabs to remove a DIMM from the serverboard.
Memory Support
The X9DRG-OF/OTF supports up to 768 GB of LRDIMM or 128 GB of ECC/non-
ECC UDIMM DDR3-1600/1333/1066/800 memory.
Note:
Check the Supermicro website ( www.supermicro.com ) for the latest memory
support information.
To Install:
Insert module
vertically and press
down until it snaps into
place. Pay attention to
the alignment notch at
the bottom.
To Remove:
Use your
thumbs to gently push
the release tabs near
both ends of the module.
This should release it
from the slot.
