Appendix A
BIOS POST Messages
During the Power-On Self-Test (POST), the BIOS will check for problems. If a prob-
lem is found, the BIOS will activate an alarm or display a message. The following
is a list of such BIOS messages.
Failure Fixed Disk
Fixed disk is not working or not confi gured properly. Check to see if fi xed disk is at-
tached properly. Run Setup. Find out if the fi xed-disk type is correctly identifi ed.
Stuck key
Stuck key on keyboard.
Keyboard error
Keyboard not working.
Keyboard Controller Failed
Keyboard controller failed test. May require replacing keyboard controller.
Keyboard locked - Unlock key switch
Unlock the system to proceed.
Monitor type does not match CMOS - Run SETUP
Monitor type not correctly identifi ed in Setup
Shadow Ram Failed at offset: nnnn
Shadow RAM failed at offset
nnnn
of the 64k block at which the error was de-
tected.
System RAM Failed at offset: nnnn
System RAM failed at offset

System battery is dead - Replace and run SETUP
The CMOS clock battery indicator shows the battery is dead. Replace the battery and
run Setup to reconfi gure the system.
