Seed planting gearbox

The

W630  DV

  planter  is  equipped  with

54  speed  gearboxes,  one  or  two

according to the model; this is to obtain

the desired planting rate.

It  works  in  oil  bath,  It´s  capacity  is  of  4

liters of SAE 30 oil.

In  the  beginning  of  every  working

season it is recommended to check the

level and quality of the oil.  It´s generally

used  for  several  seasons,  but  in  the

case of contamination by foreign objects

and  humidity,  oil  may  lose  its  qualities

and it must be changed.

If  the  oil  were  to  be  changed,  remove

the  B cap  in  the bottom  of  the  gearbox

to  drain  the  old  oil,  and  replace  oil

through the A. Figure 40.

The  gearbox  features  a  spring  protecting  device  (C).  In  case  anything  jams,  the  device

springs  out  and  no  damage  results.  If  necessary,  adjust  the  spring-loaded  device  by

tightening or loosening hex bolt C, Figure 40. Setting should be such that the device may not

spring out under normal pressure but does spring out when the transmission turn jams.

Adjusting seed rate

The 54 speed gearbox allows adjusting seed rate to fit intended crop.

1- According to the type of seed and rate intended check the corresponding gear in Table I.

2- Look in chart II the shift selected, and position the levers A, B, C or D. As indicated in the

chart. (Figure 40).

To set the selected shift lever proceed as follows:

“Clutch” the gearbox by removing one of the levers from their lock point, A,B,C, or D. This is

achieved  by  moving  one  of  the  levers  until  it´s  between  one  position  and  the  other,  and

turning the hand wheel D manually 3 or 4 turns always in the same direction, until  it turns

freely.

In this condition, set every lever in their final position, leaving the “clutched” lever for the end.

Chart I besides of being in this manual, is also in the gearbox, E figure 40. Chart II also will

be found in this manual, and can be seen installed in the frame.

EXAMPLE:

If you want to plant corn at 20cm of distance between grains, this is equal  to 5 grains per

meter, 50 grains every 10 meters.

In chart I we will find that these values are reflected in shift number 16.
