Starting Up the System
Note –
The order in which the machines are powered on is very important.

To Startup the First Time
1. Refer to Sun StorEdge N8400 Filer Hardware Setup.
2. Proceed to “Initial Filer Setup” on page 10.

To Startup After a Facility Power Failure
1. When the facility power returns, wait for every Sun StorEdge T3 Array to fully
boot.
Wait approximately eight minutes. If possible, verify that the flashing LEDs on the
back panel of the arrays go steady to indicate they are ready.
Note –
The Sun Enterprise 420R Server will not be powered on when facility power
returns until the power button on the front of the unit is pushed.
2. Power on the Sun Enterprise 420R Server power button.
The boot process will take three to ten minutes, depending on the components
installed.
3. Connect a console to the Sun Enterprise 420R Server as shown in
FIGURE 3
