Quick Start Guide
IMPORTANT NOTICE
For detailed instructions, download the
Sievers M500 Online TOC Analyzer
manual from www.sieversinstruments.com [Customer Support > Sievers
Analyzers & Instruments > Under “Manuals and Validation Support Packages
(VSPs),” Sievers M500]..
Installation Instructions
Step 1
Unpack and inspect the Analyzer.
Step 2
Complete the identi
fi
cation records.
Step 3
Select a location for the Analyzer.
The
Sievers M500 Online TOC Analyzer
is designed to be mounted on a wall
or support stand. It has pre-installed mounts that create a minimum 2.5 cm
between the back of the Analyzer and the wall for heat dissipation. Allow at
least 30.5 cm of clearance on the sides, top, and bottom of the Analyzer for
the plumbing and electrical connections. Additionally, this clearance provides
for the proper circulation for temperature and humidity control. When selecting
the location, mount the Analyzer so that the display screen is approximately at
eye-level.
Select and procure hardware for mounting the Analyzer on a wall or instrument
rack, based on site-speci
fi
c circumstances. Mounting hardware must be able to
support four times the weight of the unit [65.2 kg (144 lbs)].
Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Operating at elevated
temperatures greater than 40 °C (104 °F) prevents proper operation, and
operating at temperatures lower than 5 °C (41 °F), can cause measurement
errors.
Step 4
Install I/O control wiring and power.
Step 4 A
Access wiring areas
(Use ESD protection while working inside the
Analyzer)
1.
Unlock and push the release button to unlatch
and open the door to the Analyzer.
2.
Remove the electronics cover (Figure 1, at A)
and I/O Control wiring cover (B) by turning the
fasteners 1/4 turn to release.
Step 4 B
Install I/O wiring.
1.
Locate the instrument controller board
(Figure 2, at C) and wire glands (D) inside the
Analyzer.
2.
Route the I/O wires into the instrument
through the wire glands from the outside I/O
panel, located on the left side of the Analyzer.
3.
Install the wires into their corresponding terminal blocks, shown below.
Additionally, see Table 1 and Table 2, at right, for pin information regarding
alarm relay outputs and 4-20 mA analog current loop outlets.
Step 5
Install power.
This step should only be performed by a quali
fi
ed
electrician.
To install the AC conduit:
1.
Pull the AC line cable through the AC mains
wire gland on the I/O panel of the enclosure
(Figure 3).
2.
Strip back the outer insulation by ~3 1/2
inches.
Warnings
See the separate “Warnings” document for additional important information.
The iOS system and vial ports contain sharp needles
designed to pierce the septa of sample
vials. Do not put
fi
ngers or inappropriate materials into the iOS system or vial port.
To avoid false TOC readings and possible damage
to the Analyzer, always make sure
the sample inlet is open and the DI water reservoir is
fi
lled BEFORE turning on the Analyzer.
Always close the door of the iOS System when not sampling from a vial.
RISK GROUP 3 Warning:
UV emitted from this product. Avoid eye and skin exposure to
unshielded product.
