Abramin is a universal grinding, lap ping
and polishing machine for preparation of
specimens for in spec tion in microscope
The built-in microprocessor fa cil i tates the
operation and the pro gram ma ble methods
make the Abramin a ver sa tile tool for the
prep a ra tion of all ma te ri als. Abramin is
ideal for quality con trol fa cil i ties with a
relatively high sam ple vol ume requiring
a fast turn-around time. All preparation
steps can be car ried out on the machine
and no ad di tion al manual work is need ed.
The programming and change of prep a -
ra tion methods is easy and fast because
the data selection of the pro grams is logi-
cally organized and the machine is easy to
op er ate.
Eight Programmable
Preparation Steps
Abramin is easily programmed on a
splash-proof keyboard, on which the
functions are indicated by il lu mi na tion
and the preparation time is shown on a
display. Eight prep a ra tion steps can be
pro grammed by selecting time, ro ta tion al
speed, wa ter for grinding or lubricant
for pol ish ing. These eight steps can be
com bined in a number of ways to allow
preparation of a wide va ri e ty of materials
without re pro gram ming.
Grinding
Grinding is carried out with SiC pa per in
4 steps. As an alternative, MD-Allegro
or MD-Largo can be used for one-step
grind ing which pro vides ex cel lent plane-
ness and is even more econom i cal. For
grind ing sintered car bides and ce ram ics,
MD-Piano is used. All discs are eas i ly in-
ter change a ble.
Polishing
Polishing disc and specimen hold er of
the Abramin rotate with 150 rpm and the
holder is ec cen tri cal ly po si tioned in rela-
tion to the polishing disc. This prevents a
pref er en tial di rec tion during prep a ra tion
and en sures a fast and good polish with-
out creating comet tails and pull-outs.
For diamond pol ish ing, 9-1/4 μm is used
on Struers MD- or DP-Cloths. Abramin
can perform any type of preparation from
a fast one-step polish to a per fect plane
polish. For fi nal polishing, without de for -
ma tion or scratches, oxide polishing sus-
pensions on MD/OP-Chem cloth are used.
The Abra System
Abramin accepts the same spec i men
holders, grinding and pol ish ing discs, and
consumables as the oth er Abra machines
and TegraPol/TegraForce. The ac ces so ries
are all in ter change a ble on these ma chines,
mak ing the Abra Sys tem extremely fl exible
and allowing for an increase of ca pac i ty at
any time, if required.
Microstop
Abramin can be mounted with a microstop
so that a certain re mov al from the speci-
men can be preset.
