Stratus ftServer V 6624 Hardware Installation Guide

1. With the console server power switch (number
1
) in the off (0)
position, plug the power cord (number
2
) into the console server.
2. Connect the RJ-45 end of the serial cable (number
4
) to port 1 of the
console server.
N O T E
This is not a required connection. Alternatively, you can
connect a PC to the maintenance switch and telnet to the
the ftServer V 6624 system’s 10.10.1.1 address.
3. Connect the DB-9 end of the serial cable (number
4
) to the COM1 port
of the system’s backplane.
4. Connect the RJ-45 end of the other serial cable (number
5
) to port 2
of the console server.
5. Connect the DB-25 end of the serial cable (number
5
in
) to the
AA-C72100 modem (number
8
in
). Tighten the connector screws.
6. Connect one end of the telephone cable (number
9 in
) to the RJ-11 line
jack on the modem, and connect the other end to the telephone wall jack.
7. Connect one end of the modem power cord to the modem and the other end to the
AC wall outlet.
8. Connect the Ethernet cable (number
3
) from the Ethernet switch to
the LAN2 port (the upper port) of the console server.
9. Turn the console server power switch to the on (1) position.
10. Test the operation of the console server and modem by sending an RSN mail
message to the CAC and asking them to connect to your server. If the console
server is not working, the CAC will help you correct the problem.
Connecting the ftScalable Storage System
Stratus provides the following RAID storage-system product for ftServer V 6624
systems:
ftScalable Storage G3
. This is the third generation of ftScalable Storage.
ftServer V 6624 systems require ftScalable Storage G3 systems. All ftScalable
Storage systems are pre-connected before arriving at a customer site. If you need
more information, see the
ftScalable Storage G3: Getting Started Guide
(R687).
