Remove the covering from the
center
slots in the
top
and
bottom
of the horizontal stabilizer.
Remove the covering from the slots on either side of the
center
slots, on the
bottom
of the
stabilizer only.
28.
Fit the tabs at the base of the vertical stabilizer through the
center
slots in the horizontal
stabilizer. Fit the tail surface assembly to the
rear
of the fuselage. Insert the tabs at the
rear
of the fuselage into the slots on the
underside
of the horizontal stabilizer. View the
assembly from the
front
and
rear
. Make sure that the tail surfaces are square to each other,
and perpendicular to the fuselage sides and
top
. Bond the stabilizers to each other, and to
the fuselage by applying a small bead of medium CA along the seams where the parts
meet.
Control Linkages
29.
Trim the push rods 1/8 in. short of the control horns on the elevator and rudder. Retain the
excess lengths of wire.

Pre-shrink a 3/4 in. long piece of 1/16 in. heat-shrink tube over two pieces of excess push
rod wire, using a heat gun or warm soldering iron. Retain the excess length of non-shrunk
tubing for step 39. When cool, remove the tube from the wires. Keep the excess wire.

. Make up two “part Bs” from
the excess push rod wire. Trim the “part Bs” to an overall length of 3/4 in.
32.
Cut the pre-shrunk tube into two pieces 3/8 in. long. Slide one length onto the elevator
push rod. Connect one “part B” to the elevator control horn. Then, slide the tubing over
both the push rod and “part B”. Slide the two wires past each other within the heat-shrink
tube, to adjust the position of the elevator. When satisfied that the elevator is straight, apply
a small drop of medium CA to each end of the tube, to secure. Repeat this step, to connect
the rudder push rod.
Wing Attachment
33.
Fit the wing panels to the wing center section, one at a time. Insert the tip of the spar W1
through the slot in rib W6. Then fit the notches along the root of the wing panel to the tabs
along the
top
of rib W3. Bond the wing along the spar and rib W3 with medium CA. Repeat
this step for the other wing panel.
