9.3 ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS
Different equipment and systems may be installed in the motorglider S12, which are not part of
the minimum or supplementary equipment and which normally are not series standard. Basically
the cases »Additional Equipment« and »Optional Systems« have to be distinguished and treated
differently.
9.3.1
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT
In addition to the minimum and supplementary equipment, installation of the following devices is
approved. A precondition is that the electrical energy requirements remain within certified limits
and the certified weight of equipment in the instrument panel is not exceeded.
Depending on the instrument panel type the following maximum equipment weights are certified.
Panel Type
Max. Equipment Weight
Standard
8 kg / 17.64 lb
Ultimate
12 kg / 26.46 lb
Premium
14 kg / 30.86 lb
Additionally a ground and flight test must be performed, showing electromagnetic compatibil-
ity (EMC). Changes of equipment may be performed by competent personnel only. An inspector
must confirm the correct installation by an entry in the aircraft-logbook, the EMC-test flight, the
continued compliance to the electrical energy requirement limit and the inclusion of the changes
into the equipment list and the weight and balance report. The above-mentioned inspection and
operation documents must be added to »Annex C« of the S12 Maintenance Manual.
