7. MAINTENANCE
CAUTION:
DO NOT LUBRICATE THE DIPPING MECHANISM.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LUBRICATE THE SHUTTER.
CAUTION:
TAKE CARE WHEN CLEANING THE LID OR SHUTTER NOT TO DAMAGE THE TIP OF
THE FLASH DETECTOR PROBE.
1) After each test:
a) Wipe the Sample Cup clean.
b) Wipe the Lid and Shutter clean.
2) After each test session:
a) Carry out the actions detailed in 1) above.
b) Wipe the exterior of the Instrument clean of spillages, splashes and residues.
3) Every six months:
a) Carry out the actions detailed in 2) above.
b) Thouroughly clean the Lid and Sample Cup with a solvent soaked rag, and allow to air dry.
4) Every 12 months:
a) Carry out the actions detailed in 3) above.
b) Check the supply lead for any signs of wear or damage.
c) Check the general condition of all wiring and cable assemblies.
d) Check all subassemblies are securely attached to the instrument chassis.
e) Ensure that all screw connections are tight.
f)
Check the earth bonding and insulation resistance.
g) Check the illuminated display.
h) Check that the shutter operates smoothly: do not lubricate the shutter slide.
i)
Check that when the shutter aperture is fully open, the test jet is dipped to the correct depth, i.e.
the centre of the test jet intersects the plane of the underside of the cover. When the shutter is
released all apertures should be closed.
j)
Inspect the sample cup O-ring seal regularly by checking that it is smooth. Lightly smear it with
light oil and close the lid. Re-open the lid and check that the oil trace from the O-ring is
continuous on the underside of the lid. Check that the lid is flat and that the hinge is not
strained. Remove all traces of the oil from the lid, seal and cup.
CAUTION:
CHECK THAT THE APPROPRIATE SAMPLE WELL ‘O’ RING SEAL IS FITTED:-
THE RED SILICONE 'O' RING (SETA 13770-004) MUST BE USED FOR ALL SAMPLES
EXCEPT JET A1/AVIATION FUELS AND KEROSINES.
THE BLACK VITON 'O' RING (SETA 13740-004) MUST ONLY BE USED FOR JET
A1/AVIATION FUELS AND KEROSINES. DO NOT USE VITON ‘O’ RINGS FOR
TEMPERATURES ABOVE 110°C
k) Check that the flash detector probe does not foul the shutter or protrude below the lower edge
of the lid.
l)
Check the sample cup, lid and shutter for cleanliness.
