Metal enclosure / mounting plate
• When installing the field device coupler in a metal enclosure and/or mounting it on a
mounting plate connected with the equipotential bonding, use all 4 screws (1) to fasten
a field device coupler onto the mounting plate (see figure). Only a frictional connection
with all 4 screws can be used to connect the device with the equipotential bonding;
no separate connection is required.

6.4.2 Earth the Cable Shields
Earthing trunk cable shields
The cable shields of the trunk can be capacitively earthed to the field device coupler
using the "S" terminal (2.35 nF) or directly earthed using the shield bus
(available as accessories).
Capacitive:
• Loop the shield at the "S" terminal through to another coupler.

Before earthing the cable shields:
• Check the conditions and features of the equipotential bonding.
• Define a shielding concept that is suitable for the system.
