Reversing the drum will usually clear the
jam and allow the object to be removed
from the burn pot.
Once the jam has been cleared, simply
plug the unit back in and the drum will
rotate through and stop in the correct
position.
Another situation that could jam the
drum are pellets that form hard
clinkers. If the pot jams on the clinker
material, the procedure to clear the
drum is a little different from the
method we just covered.
Figure 25 shows the Drum outside of the
burnpot for a clearer view. Note the
“Divider Fingers” and the “Center” of the
Drum. Use a hammer and screwdriver to
break up the clinker.
When breaking up a Clinker use caution
not to hit directly on the divider fingers as
this may bend them and cause them to
bind on the “Cutters”. Break the Clinker
up in the area described as the “Center of
Drum”
How to prevent Clinkers from causing the
Drum to jam?
Clinkers form when the temperatures in
the pot get high enough to cause the
minerals in the ash to fuse together. If you
do have pellets that are causing a hard
clinker to form try switching to program 2
to alleviate the problem. Program 2
reduces the BTU rating slightly and the
clinkers will not be as hard.

For Example: If you are operating in Program 1, simply change to Program 2. This will reduce
the temperature in the pot by switching to a lower BTU program. Also see point 10 on page 62
for information on reducing the feed rate of the fuel within the program itself.
