SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

STARTING THE ENGINE AND DRIVING OFF THE VEHICLE

1. Apply the parking brake.

2. Make sure that there are no persons or obstacles in the

danger area around the vehicle.

• Automatic transmission equipped vehicle

Move the selector lever to the

“P”

position and depress

the brake pedal.

• Manual transmission equipped vehicle

Move the gearshift lever to the Neutral position and fully
depress the brake pedal and the clutch pedal.

Depress the brake pedal when the selector lever is at the

“P”

position. Never depress the accelerator pedal.

WARNING

A/T

The engine in an automatic transmission equipped vehicle can be

started only when the selector lever is at the

“P”

“N”

position.

The engine in a manual transmission equipped vehicle can be started
only when the clutch pedal is fully depressed.

Do not turn the ignition key to the

“START”

position while the

engine is running. It could result in serious start motor damage.
