Hydraulic Remote System Bleed
H y d r a u l i c R e m o t e S y s t e m B l e e d
Reverb™ Stealth feature two independent and separate hydraulic systems: 1) the hydraulic remote system, and 2) the upper seatpost internal floating
piston assembly. When the hydraulic remote lever actuator is pushed, hydraulic pressure is applied to the poppet valve inside the upper seatpost
assembly which actuates adjustable height movement of the upper post assembly.
If air enters the hydraulic remote system, seatpost adjustable height function will be reduced because there is insufficient hydraulic fluid pressure
required to move the poppet valve inside the Reverb Stealth. Reduced hydraulic pressure at the remote lever actuator is an indication that fluid
volume is insufficient and the hydraulic remote system must be bled to remove any trapped air.
A full hydraulic remote system bleed can be performed at any time as a measure of regular maintenance, or to improve remote actuation and seatpost
function. To Bleed only (no service disassembly), you must first complete

Remove the seatpost from the bicycle work stand.
Position the seatpost with the bleed port end up and secure the
seatpost to the rear bicycle wheel with a large plastic cable tie to
hold it in position. Place a rag under the seatpost to absorb any
Reverb hydraulic fluid that may drip when the seatpost bleed screw is
removed.
NOTICE
Ensure there are no sharp bends in the hydraulic hose. A sharp bend in
the hose will prevent fluid from flowing.
Temporarily mount the remote lever on the handlebar. Rotate the
remote so that the bleed screw is at the highest point. Tighten the
clamp bolt just enough so the remote does not move.
This remote mount location is temporary for the bleed procedure. The
remote lever will be installed in the desired location after the bleed
procedure is complete.
To avoid any contamination of Reverb hydraulic fluid and the brake
lever, remove the nearest brake lever from the handlebar and place it
away from the remote lever during the bleed procedure.
⚠
WARNING
Do not allow Reverb hydraulic fluid to come into contact with any brake
components. Contaminated brake components can compromise brake
performance, may cause brake failure, and can lead to serious injury
and/or death.
Turn the SPEED adjuster knob in the opposite direction of the arrow
(counterclockwise) until it stops. This is the slowest setting.
Rotating the SPEED adjuster to the slowest setting is critical for a
successful bleed. Failure to do so may result in insufficient fluid
volume inside the hydraulic remote system.
