For example, to program the Last Number Dialed feature so wireless telephone users can
redial the last number using FCN 8, you would assign LND to Button 10 on the 8410D.
The following features are not supported on the wireless telephone:
•
Personalized Ring feature
•
SHIFT, TEST, and SPEAKR keys
•
Red programmable button lamps
The wireless telephone display has only 16 characters per line; longer messages will wrap
onto the second line of the display. DEFINITY’s five-character menu names (for
example, CpkUp for Call Pickup) will be truncated to three characters on the wireless
telephone. If the customer wants to change these three-character messages, they can be
customized using DEFINITY’s Language Translations feature.
3. Set Up Access to Diagnostic Modem
The SpectraLink system can be accessed remotely using a diagnostic modem built-in to
the Link 150.
To set up this access, the DEFINITY Technician should program a Direct Inward Dial
(DID) port to emulate an 8410D. The DID line should be programmed so that it is the
only line appearance on the port. It should have ringing enabled. The DID should only
appear on this port. No other features need to be programmed for this port. Features
such as Coverage Path must be deleted.
The Installer connects the digital DID port from the DEFINITY system to the
SpectraLink MCU, Port 1, MCU 1. No wireless telephone will be registered to this port.
4. Program DEFINITY
Program Wireless Telephones
Each wireless telephone must be administered on the DEFINITY so the telephone system
will recognize the wireless telephone and allow access to system facilities and features.
Before beginning to program the system, you may want to back-up current programming
with the save translations command. This will ensure that translations can be restored if
necessary.
Copy Settings from a Wired Set to a Wireless Telephone
The easiest way to program the wireless telephone on DEFINITY is to find a wired
8410D station that has settings and restrictions similar to what is required for the wireless
telephone and use the duplicate station command to copy those settings to a “template”
wireless telephone. If there is no 8410D available, find a station with similar settings, and
use the display or print station command to check the settings so they can be manually
duplicated using an add station command for the template wireless telephone.
