B. Connect The Alarm Relay
The MCU constantly checks for system errors or malfunctions, and activates an alarm
when a problem is detected. To notify the user or a user-specified device of these system
alarms, an alarm relay is provided on the back of the MCU.
Use a 3.5mm stereo plug to connect to the alarm relay. A contact closure is provided
between tip and sleeve when alarms are active. A contact closure between ring and sleeve
is made when no alarms are active.
The following diagram illustrates the connections.
Sleeve (Common)
Ring (Connects to Common when
no alarms are active)
Tip (Connects to Common when
alarms are active)
3.5mm Stereo Plug
Do NOT connect any device to the relay that is
operated directly from 110V outlets. This relay is
designed for low voltage alarms only. The relay
contact supports a maximum alarm load of 1 amp at
24VAC or 24VDC.
