 Deploying SpectraLink 8400 Series Handsets

Provisioning Server

In addition to the computer you set up as a WCS, you will need to set up a 

second computer as a provisioning server. The handsets connect to the 

provisioning server over the wireless connection. The provisioning server 

provides the handsets with the remaining configuration parameters required 

to operate, such as the call server address, the line registrations, and the 

features that you want to enable on the handsets. The provisioning server also 

enables you to upgrade the handsets over their lifetime.
The following figure gives an overview of the deployment process.

Most subsequent wireless network configuration changes can be made via the 
provisioning server.
