Caring for Tape Media
Using Certified Media
Spectra Logic certifies only the highest quality data cartridges received directly from
the manufacturer and provides a lifetime guarantee on all Certified Media. Each order
includes 10 cartridges, a TeraPack container to hold the media outside the library, and
a fitted dust cover for use outside the library.
Every cartridge and TeraPack container is uniquely numbered with pre-applied
sequential color bar code labels. This ensures that you will never have to deal with a
duplicate bar code problem. Spectra Logic’s bar codes carry the same lifetime
guarantee that protects each Certified Media cartridge.
Handling and Storing Media
Use and store tape media within its range requirements (see the table below). Make
sure that the environment is clean, and always store cartridges in their individual
plastic cases or in a TeraPack storage case.
If you expose the media to conditions that exceed these limits, stabilize the media
before use. To do this, keep the media out of use in the operating environment for at
least 24 hours.
