Circuit Description
4-1. Board Configuration
4-1-1. MA-168 Board
.
Main control
CPU (IC103) completely controls and manages this unit.
It is flash memory (IC201) in which firmware was
written.

Image input/output
USB control IC (IC1002)

Thermal
head

Sensor detection
This outputs LED potential to the MEC-36 board and
inputs sensor output potential from the MEC-36 board.

Motor control
This outputs a control signal to the MEC-36 board.

Temperature detection
This inputs the thermister potential on a thermal head
from the thermal head and inputs the thermister potential
of a platen temperature and in-storage temperature from
the MEC-36 board.

Thermal head applied voltage control
This outputs the control signal of a thermal head applied
voltage to the power supply.

Key (operation button) control
This outputs a key control signal to the KY-632 board
and inputs a key input value from the KY-632 board.

LCD (liquid-crystal display) control
This outputs an LCD control signal to the KY-632 board.

LED (ALARM lamp) control
This outputs an LED control signal to the KY-632 board.
4-1-2. KY-632 Board
This board consists of keys (operation buttons), LCD
(liquid-crystal display), and LED (ALARM lamp).
4-1-3. MEC-36 Board

Motor control
This consists of a stepping motor driver (IC9) and six
DC motor drivers (IC6 to IC8, and IC10 to IC12). It
outputs signals to a stepping motor, a cutter unit, and
each motor board.

Plunger control
This controls a plunger that locks a ribbon door during
operation.

Fan motor control
This controls two thermal head cooling fan motors and
two in-storage cooling fan motors.

Ribbon IC tag control
This communicates with the IC tag of a ribbon. (IC5)

Relay of sensor detection signal
This outputs the LED potential from the MA-168 and
MEC-36 boards to a cutter unit and sensor boards.
This also outputs the sensor output potential from a
cutter unit and sensor boards to the MA-168 board.

Relay of thermister potential
This inputs the thermister potential of a platen tempera-
ture and in-storage temperature from a sensor board and
outputs it to the MA-168 board.

4-2-1. Stepping Motor Driving
Function: Drives a capstan roller.
