Should a Lamp replacement take place and, for some
reason, the new Lamp Serial Code not be entered using the
SRX Controller, the ability to set the Serial Code is
available on the MAINTENANCE screen. Following
entry of a new Lamp Serial Code the Lamp Hours (
“Lamp
Status” on page 44
) is automatically set to “0” (zero) and
the Replacement Date is set to allow tracking of hours of
usage following replacement.
To enter a new lamp Serial
Code, tap the
Serial Code
box. The Enter Serial Code
pop-up appears. Using the
keypad, tap the value

Serial Code
and then tap
Accept
.
Verify that
Lamp Hours
are
reset to “0” (zero) and that
Drive Elect Power (Max)
contains the correct value
(in watts) for the replacement lamp.
CAUTION:
The risk of lamp explosion increases as the
lamp is used. For this reason, it is important to observe the
manufacturer's recommended operating life limits.
Adjust/Test
Projector maintenance may require the re-calibration of
Luminance and/or the use of one or more of the internal
Test Patterns.
CALIBRATE Luminance
The SRX-R220 Projector includes a feature which
maintains a nearly constant screen luminance as the lamp
ages and the bulb brightness vs. lamp power applied is
reduced. During the lamp replacement procedure, lamp
positioning is optimized. In addition, a luminance vs.
Lamp Power table is created. This is the Calibrate
Luminance process.
The calibration process uses an internal photo sensor
which measures the lamp’s brightness while adjusting the
Lamp Power across the Lamp Power range contained in
the Serial Code. A brightness vs. lamp power table is
created. This table is used as a reference (for adjusting
lamp power) to maintain the same lamp brightness and, as
a result, the same luminance level on the screen. Using the
table, the Projector monitors when the Lamp is
approaching the end of it’s useful life based on the amount
of Lamp Power required to reach a specific brightness.
Note:
The Calibrate Luminance process takes some time
to complete and should not be done without an
understanding of the calibration process. Normally it is
done when the lamp is replaced and periodically to insure
correct tracking of lamp brightness, i.e., screen luminance,
vs. lamp power. Essentially, the process steps the Lamp
Power from the minimum bulb rated setting to the
maximum bulb rated setting and measures the photocell
detected brightness. The results are saved in a table located
in the Projector.

process.
Luminance calibration has little impact on the actual
screen luminance based on the value stored in a
FUNCTION. This value is returned by the photocell
sampling the bulb brightness to realize the desired value,
e.g., 14ft-L, and stored in a specific labelled FUNCTION
such as CinemaScope® @ 14ft-L. The CALIBRATE
Luminance process is done to insure that a brightness vs.
Lamp Power relationship is known to the Projector
subsystem.
