Appendix

Transporting the S-AIT Library

If you are transporting the S-AIT library for any reason, such as moving offices
or repairing the library, make the following preparations:

1

Take out all the cartridges set in the library.

Caution

• If the cartridges cannot be taken out by operating the control buttons, refer

to “The cartridges cannot be removed.” (page 75) in the
“Troubleshooting” section.

• Transporting the library with the cartridges left in the device may cause a

failure of the library.

Perform the SHIPPING PARK operation in USER mode to shut down the
library automatically.

Caution

If the operation is not performed, the internal mechanism of the library
cannot be moved to the specified position so that you cannot attach the
transport lock.

3

Turn off the power of the library.

Press the power switch on the rear of the library.

4

Remove the cables.

Remove all the cables such as the power cable, the SCSI cable, the
terminator and the network cable.

5

Pack the library.

Follow the procedure of “Unpacking” (page 15) in Chapter 2 in reverse. Be
sure to attach the transport lock. Transporting the library without the lock
may cause a malfunction of the library.
