AP Axis Collection
While all of the other collections listed above are
singular points referencing the tip of the point
probe, this collection will reference the axis of
the point probe. If the AP axis is selected for
rotational reference collection, using the length
of the pointer probe, collect the AP axis on the
tibia, normal to the transepicondylar axis. This
collection, along with the tibia mechanical axis,
will define the medial-lateral axis of the patient’s
femur.
•
Transfer Femoral Mechanical Axis
If the femur mechanical axis is selected, the tibial
rotational references are derived from the femur
mechanical axis definition. The knee is flexed
to 90 degrees and while keeping the tibia at 0
degrees of internal/external rotation, the collection
is made to define the tibial AP axis.
•
Tibia Tubercle Collection
This selection prompts collection of the medial
third of the tibia tubercle. This point collection,
along with the tibia knee center define the tibia
AP axis.
