The DESS/RER (Digitally Encoded Security System and Rotax Elec-
tronic Reverse) pilot lamp will blink and a warning buzzer will sound
once every second with a half a second duration when the snowmo-
bile is engaged in reverse.
Apply throttle slowly and evenly. Allow drive pulley to engage then
accelerate carefully.
Shifting in Forward
With the snowmobile completely stopped and engine running at idle,
press and release the reverse button.
DESS indicator lamp and warning buzzer will stop.

These vehicles are equipped with a Digital Performance Management
(DPM) system. This system takes care of the altitude mode required
by the RER.
No reverse button operation is needed to select a mode. Just follow

7) Tether Cut-Out System
General
The tether cut-out system serves 3 functions.
It prevents snowmobile runaway if the operator accidently falls off
shutting off the engine.
Through the DESS (Digitally Encoded Security System), it acts as a
lock by preventing unauthorized use of your snowmobile thus deter-
ring theft.
Finally, it prevents unintentional electric starter operation on vehicles
so equipped by disabling the electric starter and ignition circuits in
the MPEM.
WARNING
Always disconnect tether cord when leaving vehicle unattent-
ed and keep in a secured location.
