Power Drive System
WARNING:
The bed must be unplugged from the wall outlet before operating
the power drive system. The power drive system should be operated ONLY by
qualified staff and should remain in the LOCKED mode when not in use. Failure
to understand the proper operation of the power drive system could result in
patient and/or user injury as well as damage to equipment or other property.
Activating the Power Drive System
The bed must be in the lowest position
for the power drive wheels to make
contact with the floor. Use the bed hand
controller to lower the bed by pressing
the bed down arrow button.
Stand behind the headboard to operate
the power drive system. Press the
ON/OFF button on the joystick, located
on the headboard of the bed to turn the
power drive ON. The LEDs will light up
when the power is ON.
WARNING:
If the joystick is not in the center position or neutral when the
ON/OFF button is pressed, the joystick mechanism will not operate and an error
will be indicated by all LEDs flashing slowly.
Before driving, be sure to set the speed to a comfortable level. To set the speed, adjust
the knob accordingly. The slow speed is indicated by the smaller marks on the knob
and the fast speed is indicated by the larger marks on the knob.
To operate the power drive system, stand behind the headboard section, locate the
joystick and press the ON/OFF button to power the system. The LEDs will light up to
indicate the power is ON. The drive is now ready for use. Stand behind
the headboard to operate the power drive system. Press the ON/OFF
button on the joystick, located on the headboard of the bed to turn the
power drive ON. The LEDs will light up when the power is ON.
LED Indicators
The indicator shows how charged the batteries are or if flashing a special circumstance with the
system, such as charging, locked, etc.
Locking the Power Drive System
With system ON, press and hold the ON/OFF button until a series of beeps are heard and the unit
turns OFF. The button may be pressed to turn unit ON but the LEDs will sweep from left to right
for ten (10) seconds and turn OFF. The system will remain LOCKED until the UNLOCK
sequence is initiated.
