Transmission Removal
1. Elevate the rear end. (See Elevating Rear End for
Safe Service) and remove the rear wheels. (See
Rear Wheel Removal).
2. Engage the parking brake and remove the drive belt
from the transmission input pulley.
3. Disengage the parking brake.
4. Remove the cotter pin (34, Figure 4) from the brake
rod (22) and remove the brake rod from the pivot
shaft assembly (26).
5. Remove the cotter pin (34, Figure 4) from the front
shift rod (17) and remove the shift rod from the pivot
shaft assembly (26).
6. Remove the return spring (2, Figure 3).
7. Disassemble the front and rear return rods (21 & 25,
Figure 4)
8. Disconnect the torque straps(9 & 15, Figure 3).
9. Place a jack under the transaxle. Remove the axle
mounting bolts from the left and right side of the carri-
er assembly. Lower the transmission out of the carri-
er assembly being careful not to damage any of the
linkages.
