CLUTCH REPLACEMENT
Electric Clutch Replacement
CLUTCH REMOVAL
1. Remove the mower deck. See Mower Deck Repair
section for instructions.
2. Block the front tires and elevate the rear of the unit.
See Elevating the Rear End for Safe Service.
3. Remove the torsion bar brackets (A, Figure 8) and
torsion bar (B).
4. Unplug the clutch electrical connector.
5. Locate the two flats of the spacer on the underside of
the clutch.
6. Hold the flats with a wrench and remove and retain
the capscrews and lockwasher from the end of the
crankshaft.
7. Remove the clutch.
CLUTCH INSTALLATION
8. Lubricate the crankshaft with anti-seize compound.
9. Install the new clutch on the crankshaft.
10. Hold the flats on the underside of the clutch with a
wrench and install the capscrew and lockwasher
removed in step 6. Torque the capscrew to 45-50 ft.
lbs.
11. Install the torsion brackets (A) and torsion bar (B).
12. Lower the unit and install the deck.
13. If the clutch has been replaced, burnish the new
clutch. See Adjustments section.
