Dust extraction

WARNING:

Always connect the tool to a suitable vacuum cleaner or workshop dust

extraction system if the sanding dust contains harmful substances, such as particles from
old paint, varnish, surface coatings etc. Always dispose of harmful dust according to laws
and regulations.

WARNING:

Take special care to guard against harmful and toxic dusts when working with

lead-based painted surfaces, woods and metals, particularly if you are unsure about the
exact substances involved. All persons entering the work area must wear a mask specially
designed for protection against the toxic dust and fumes involved. Children and pregnant
women MUST NOT enter the work area. DO NOT eat, drink or smoke in the work area.
•  Slide the Hose End (16) on to the Dust Extraction Port (6) (Image B)

Operation

WARNING:

ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection,

as well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.

Switching on and off

 WARNING:

•  Switch the tool on by depressing the On/Off Slider Switch (4) and slide downwards

towards the Blade Guard (12)

•  Switch the tool off by releasing the On/Off Slider Switch

Performing a cut

WARNING:

Always ensure the workpiece is adequately secured using clamps and/or a vice

at all times. Do not attempt to use this tool without sufficiently securing the workpiece first.
•  The cutting plane is indicated by the arrow located at the front and rear of the Blade

Guard (12)

•  Switch the tool on, wait for the Blade to reach normal operating speed and depress

the Cut Release Lever (14) to commence cutting

•  Press down on the Handle (15) and allow the Blade (11) to engage the workpiece
•  For dense materials work slowly and cut in multiple depth stages if necessary to

reduce the load on the motor, i.e. split a 12mm depth cut into two cuts of 6mm, first to
the depth of 6mm and the second to the depth of 12mm

•  Ensure the correct blade is fitted for the material being cut
•  Always push the saw forwards. NEVER pull the saw backwards towards you
•  When starting the cut, ensure the rear of the Blade Guard is protruding off the edge

of the workpiece

•  Ensure the Blade Guard is always kept flat against the workpiece when cutting
•  When finished cutting, release the Cut Release Lever (14) and raise the Blade out

of the workpiece. Maintain Blade velocity for a short period to remove all dust from
the cutting area

Accessories

•  A range of accessories and consumables, including replacement saw blades,

is available from your SILVERLINE stockist. Spare parts can be obtained from
toolsparesonline.com

Maintenance

WARNING:

ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any

inspection, maintenance or cleaning.

General inspection

•  Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight
•  Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs

should be carried out by an authorised SILVERLINE service centre. This advice also
applies to extension cords used with this tool

Cleaning

WARNING:

ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when

cleaning this tool.
•  Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear

quickly, and shorten the device’s service life

•  Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth
•  Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, a mild

detergent on a damp cloth is recommended

•  Water must never come into contact with the tool
•  Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it
•  If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes

(where applicable)

Lubrication

•  Slightly lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals with a suitable spray lubricant

Brushes

•  Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
•  Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible

sparking

•  If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an authorised

SILVERLINE service centre

Storage

•  Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children

Disposal

Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer
functional and are not viable for repair.
•  Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic equipment

(WEEE), with household waste

•  Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct  way to

dispose of power tools
