The provider bridge, which may consist of multiple devices in the service provider
domain, looks like a simple bridge port to the customer’s traffic and maintains the
Customer’s VLANs (C-VLAN).
The implementation of the bridge is a network of virtual bridges connected in a “cross-
like” fashion. Each on of the ports acts as a virtual bridge and its type can be set
Customer (for C-VLANs) or Provider (for S-VLANs).
The default bridge architecture is transparent bridge, meaning all traffic will be
forwarded between all ports.
