5.3.3
Relative Centrifugal Force (RCF)
The relative centrifugal force (RCF) is the acceleration that the sample is subject
to.
The RCF value is determined by the rotor geometry and speed. The RCF and
speed values, therefore, depend on each other. When the maximum permissible
RCF value of the rotor is reached, the "max" display lights up.
To preselect the RCF value:
•
Turn the left rotary knob until “set” appears in front of the parameter “rcf” on
the display (Fig. 5.15).
•
Select the option by pressing or turning the right rotary knob. "Set" will now
flash.
•
Turn the right rotary knob until the desired value is displayed.
•
Press the right rotary knob or the start key to confirm the selected value. If
this is not done, the value will be automatically reset to the last setting.
It is also possible to change the RCF value during a centrifugation run.
5.3.3.1 Changing the RCF Increments
In order to change the RCF value in steps of 1 x g (instead of in steps of 10 x g):
•
Keep the stop key pressed while setting the desired RCF value with the right
rotary knob.
