The display goes blank when
reading/writing.
The battery or the batteries of the
reader are empty.
Insert the device into the charging and docking
station or insert new batteries.
The display is blank after
switching on.

Software or driver were deleted
from the Flash Disk.

Send in the device.
Icons are missing on the display. The icon has been deleted.
Restore the factory settings by running a system
reset. Press and hold down the <ON/OFF>
(red), <FN> (orange) and <FN> (blue) buttons
simultaneously for approximately 6 seconds.
As an alternative, remove the batteries from the
basic device and re-insert them after 60 s.
Error messages appear that are
not defined in the user
documentation.

The green LED on the read
head of the RF310M does not
go out after a read/write access
to the transponder.
The program was illegally aborted.
The supervisor password is not
known.

The password for the write
commands of the SIMATIC
RF310M application has been
forgotten.

Copy in the most recent back-up.
The tag at the read head is not
read.
The tag is defective.
Use a different/new tag.
The tag is too far away from the read
head.
Reduce the distance between the read head
and the tag. Please observe the limit distances
between the reader and tags. Refer to the limit
distances in section Technical Specifications
(Page 99)
The orientation of the tag antenna
does not comply with the alignment
of the reader antenna.
Ensure correct alignment of the transponder
antenna and reader antenna. See Antenna and
antenna field (Page 16).
The function "Write Tag" cannot
be executed/is represented in
gray in the menu.
It was previously read in the
protected OTP area.
Execute the function "Read Tag". Following this,
the tag can be written to again assuming that
the OTP area is not protected.
Writing or protection of the OTP
area does not function

Write access to an OTP memory
area which is already used

First read the OTP area in order to determine
whether the tag is still functioning or whether
this area is already protected.
An invalid transponder type was set Check the transponder setting.
