Closing the viewfinder
Lower the viewfinder (

), and push it in
completely (
2
).
Cautions:
• Do not use excessive force when moving the
viewfinder.
• Do not pick up the camcorder by the viewfinder.
Notes:
• The viewfinder automatically turns off when the
LCD monitor is opened. If the vertical rotation of
the monitor is between 135˚ and 180˚ when in
TAPE-CAMERA or CARD-CAMERA mode,
however, the viewfinder is on and the subject is
displayed both in the viewfinder and on the
monitor (see page 40).
• You can adjust the settings on the MENU screen
through the viewfinder by using the CONTROL
dial. (See page 30 for the operation of the
CONTROL dial.)
• Be sure to close the viewfinder after use.
Using the Viewfinder
You can record the subject using the electronic
LCD colour viewfinder. You can also watch
video playback through the viewfinder.

Pull out the viewfinder completely.
• You can raise the viewfinder up to 60˚ to
better aim the camcorder depending on
your position.
Caution: Do not try to raise the viewfinder until
it is completely pulled out.

Hold down the Lock
button and set the
POWER switch to
CAMERA or VCR.
• A picture displays in the
viewfinder.

Adjusting the Dioptre
Adjust the dioptre according to your eyesight
when the picture in the viewfinder is not clear.

Pull out the viewfinder completely, and
then lift it up.

Hold down the Lock button and set the
POWER switch to CAMERA.

While looking through the viewfinder,
turn the Dioptre adjustment dial until the
indicators in the viewfinder are clearly
visible.
